Time for the long-awaited blog post about our trip to Jamaica (or not.) :)
We had a wonderful time. Wonderful doesn't actually even begin to describe it. It was more than we thought it would be, which always makes for an awesome time!
We met up with Dave and Mere in Memphis on our way to Jamaica, and the fun began. We arrived at our resort around 4:30 pm on Saturday. We got a quick snack (gotta love the access to food 24 hours a day!) Then we relaxed, took showers, and headed out for dinner. By the way, you should also check our
Mere's blog for more pictures!
We went to bed pretty early that first night since we were all exhausted from travelling.
The next day was our first full day there. The boys headed out for their first of four rounds of golf, and the girls headed to breakfast and the pool. I think it's pretty funny to see the progression of tans that we have!

Mere and I got asked if we were sisters at least twice a day; we even got asked if we were twins a few times, too! :)
These are the boys with their caddies. Yeah, they didn't have to pay for their golf, but the resort does require that they get a caddy. Joe and Dave loved having caddies to carry their clubs and give them advice! They felt like pros!

What I thought was funny was how tired we all were after a "full" day of laying out, eating, golfing, swimming, etc. :)
Since Joe and Dave hung out a lot together, and Mere and I were together a lot, we didn't want people to get the wrong idea... :) Mere and I were always saying "our husbands are golfing", and the guys were always referring to their wives.

Our resort also offered a little 9 hole pitch 'n putt golf course (not the one the boys played!) But we did play the pitch and putt a few times together.

Of course, Mere and I did not dress for golf...we still wanted to get our tans!!

One of the nights for dinner we headed over to the Sandals
Ocho Rios resort which was only about 10 minutes from our resort. Some of you may remember that Joe and I honeymooned at the
Ocho Rios resort 6.5 years ago! It was fun to walk around and remember our time there.
OK, Amy,
Ocho Rios is bigger, but we thought the beach was much better at Dunn's River! :)
On the bus to
Ocho Rios.

We ate at a yummy Italian restaurant. Actually, for some reason I got eggplant Parmesan, which I don't really like. I either ordered the wrong thing, or didn't realize that it was actually eggplant in it. But fortunately the tiramasu was to die for!!

Joe and I remembered right where our honeymoon room was, so we had to take a picture in front of it.

I'm going to insert here about our favorite restaurant at our resort: Marco Polo. Mere has a few pictures on her blog of this place (I'm waiting on the rest of the pictures that Mere will mail me soon!) They had amazing lobster! The first night we went there we got two lobster tails with our meals. The second time, they had changed special to a different kind of lobster. We were a little disappointed until our meals came out, and this lobster was also amazing!
Another fun thing about our week there was meeting many of the staff. Our favorite was the "manager" of Marco Polo, Kenroy. He was the kindest man, and would talk to us all the time. There were a few other staff that we met and had fun with: Marlon, Ricky Ricardo, John Long---the blackanese (which is what he called himself!), and a few others.
Back to the pictures...
Thanks to Meredith and her memories of fresh coconut as a child, we asked a groundskeeper if he would cut one up for us from one of the trees. He literally climbed a tree for us, and threw down four coconuts to us. I realized that although I detest shaved coconut, I really liked fresh coconut and its juice.

Our last day on the beach. Notice the "Jamaica 2009" in the sand!

The last night there was a buffet outside. The food, as always, was amazing. We always enjoyed the extra little touches they always did with the food. Just look at the detail of these tables for the buffet.

Our last dinner together. :(

Last night, and we're finally pretty tan!

The buffet was a "Venice" theme, so they had gondola rides in the pool. We thought these were hilarious because not only were these kayaks, but they also would only take one person at a time...not super romantic!

This is my favorite picture of Joe and I.

Like I said before, we had a blast this past week. I think we all enjoyed a break from real life, work and kids. (Even though we were all very excited to see our kids at the end of the week.) Mere and I were actually wondering a few times if we were bad mothers because we weren't really missing our kids too much. (How could we not enjoy our time floating in the cool pool in the hot sun with a blended drink in our hands?!) We did think about them a lot, though, and shared a lot of stories with each other!
We flew back on Friday, and then Joe and I had to drive to Kansas to get Joey and Kylah. We didn't get in until after midnight, so we didn't see them until the next morning. Joey had huge hugs for us, and Kylah wouldn't let mommy out of her sight!
Speaking of Kylah...this is what happens when you spend a week with Nana and Grandpa...

Nice shiner, huh?! Joe's mom felt horrible (apparently she fell face first into the bottom of a coffee table), but Joe's dad kept joking that she touched his TV. :)
It didn't bother us, because we know she falls all the time.
We had a relaxing day at home today with just the four of us. We went to the baseball field at the elementary school by us and played baseball this morning. Joey had a blast! I should have taken my camera because he was pretty cute!
Tonight Joe grilled hamburgers and we had corn on the cob.
Kylah was old enough to get the whole cob, and boy did she love it!

Ok, all you who judge me (mom, dad, amy, probably everyone who reads this)
...I forgot to put a bib on
Kylah...again. :)
We are glad to be back, but not so sure about going back to work! :)
And, I still have piles of laundry to do...
