Triathlon

Joey and Kylah had their very first triathlon the evening we got back from camping. Joey has been training for the swim a lot this summer (200 yards!!) we have biked a lot so we knew he was ready for the 5 mile bike. I think he ran once, so I was a little nervous about the mile run at the end. Kylah didn't really train at all and wasn't interested in training. :) her race was quite a bit shorter thankfully.

Kylah did awesome and finished!! She walked quite a bit during her "run" so we had to encourage her at the end to finish strong. :) when asked if she wanted to do it again next year she said "I'm, maybe not."  Maybe triathlons aren't her thing... :)

Joey did awesome too. He swam like a pro, taking a few breaks by doing a backstroke a few times. He transitioned between swimming and biking really fast thanks to Christine's help!! He finished strong with a 8:40 mile.

We were so proud of both of our kiddos!!

Camping

Well it's been a whole month since we went camping, but it's time to blog about it! We headed to the same place we went last year, Eagle Rock, and went with the Matchell's again. Our kids LOVE camping. I will say that this year has been the best yet! I think it must only get easier as they get older!

Joe had a lot of help setting up the tent (not from me...)

Everyone loves building a fire and keeping it going. We had some yummy food over the fire this year....grilled sandwiches, burritos, eggs and sausage, and of course hotdogs and s'mores! :)

The campsite we have is just a short walk down to the swimming area. We spent hours and hours there.

See, happy faces! We survived and actually slept ok!! :)

What a fun weekend!
We will miss our yearly camping adventures with the Matchell's when they move to Africa next year, but we will enjoy them while we have them here!
